Die Wirkung von Actidion auf die Synthese des Herpes-simplex-Virus in Kulturen verschiedener Zellarten

Abstract
The effect of actidione on the intracellular synthesis of the Herpes simplex virus and of the giant cell formation associated with it was studied. Actidione hinders the penetration of the viruses but not of their absorption. The causal chain leading to the origin of giant cells can be broken by actinomycin or parafluorophenyl alanine up to the 2nd hr. after infection and by actidione up to the 3rd hr. after infection. Moreover, actidione blocks the maturing of the infectious particle. From the mode of action of actidione the conclusion is drawn that the processes of maturing follow an orderly course, dependent on one another. The synthetic processes leading to giant cell formation proceed without order, independent of one another.
