Tietze's Disease of Eight Years' Duration

Abstract
IN 1921 Tietze1 described 4 cases of a painful, nonsuppurative swelling of one or more costal cartilages associated with local tenderness that regressed spontaneously. Kayser,2 in 1956, reviewed the world literature and found 159 such cases in which symptoms had been present for one week to five years. Karon et al.3 reported 13 cases in which the duration of symptoms ranged from three days to three years at the time of examination.
