Abstract
In starved animals there was less choline synthesis in the liver than in normal animals with a high liver glycogen content, pointing to a coupling between carbohydrate metabolism and choline synthesis. In fatty livers choline synthesis is low in spite of high liver glycogen content, showing that normal fat metabolism is also necessary for choline synthesis. Acute phosphorous poisoning, leading to fatty degeneration of the liver, completely inhibits the ability to synthesize choline. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
