Abstract
Vertical profiles of atmospheric absolute humidity were obtained between 500 and 2000 m by monitoring an appropriate portion of the Raman component of laser backscatter and were compared with radiosonde data taken at essentially the same time and place. Comparative accuracies of about 10% relative accuracy and 13% absolute accuracy were measured. A parity with the radiosonde accuracy is shown for the laser method of measuring humidity. It is seen that boundary layer heights are tracked as are fluctuations in water vapor content.
