Determination of the Ground State of ThIII

Abstract
The ThIII spectrum has been observed in the region 10 000-30 000 A, and ten lines have been identified as transitions between the two previously unconnected parts of the term system. This makes 5f6d 3 H 4 the ground level of Th III. The first excited level, 6d 2 3 F 2, is situated only 63.2 cm-1 above the ground level.Keywords
