The fertility of the Jews in Palestine a review of research

Abstract
This paper reviews some work on the fertility of the Jewish population of Palestine under British mandate which has hitherto been available in Hebrew only. The work that has been done by Prof. Bachi, the Jewish Agency and the Mandatory Government is summarized. Statistics regarding marriage, fertility and mortality are quoted for different sub-sections of the Jewish population, classified by origin, geographical location and profession. Approximate methods had to be used, because of the lack of adequate statistics, and the significance of the differences that have been found is critically assessed.
