Fatal Varicella in a Child With Congenital Heart Disease

Abstract
Clinically and pathologically confirmed primary varicella pneumonia and generalized varicella associated with asymptomatic congenital heart disease (coarctation of the aorta, patent ductus arteriosus, and mitral stenosis) occurred in a 4-year-old girl. The patient had not been treated with adrenal cortical hormones or immunosuppressive drugs.
