Abstract
The approximations involved in a recent analytical investigation of the excluded volume problem are examined and the zeroth-order self-consistent field of the polymer segments is used to obtain numerical solution of the integrodifferential equations involved. It is concluded that the final result of the zeroth-order approximation is unrealistic, and further cycling of the results to produce higher-order approximations is necessary to achieve self-consistency and hence solve the problem. Keywords
