Abstract
Information is provided on about 60 species from 8 families of scale insects from Vanuatu (formerly New Hebrides), mainly from surveys of economically important plants. Platylecanium cocotis Laing, on coconuts, is the only species not found elsewhere in the Pacific. The rest of the scales are mostly polyphagous and tropicopolitan, and include the following numbers of species in each family: Margarodidae, 2; Ortheziidae, 2; Eriococcidae, 1; Pseudococcidae, 16; Coccidae, 14; Diaspididae, 23; Asterolecaniidae, 1; and Halimococcidae, 1. A scale/plant host list is included. Keywords
