WATER-SENSITIVITY IN BARLEY SEEDS I. A RE-APPRAISAL OF THE AUXIN HYPOTHESIS

Abstract
Investigations on the effects of respiratory uncouplers, auxins and auxin-antagonists on the germination of barley do not lend support to the theory that water-sensitivity is the result of the accumulation of a supra-optimal quantity of indoleacetic acid which in turn uncouples respiration.
