Abstract
This study was conducted for the purpose of determining the vascular pattern of a group of tumors of the brain. Numerous pathologic reports and classifications of intracranial neoplasms appear in the literature, with an occasional investigator devoting particular attention to the vascular arrangement. Elsberg and Hare1determined the number and situation of vessels in tumors of the brain as seen in ordinary stained specimens. Special stains, such as the Perdrau ammoniacal silver method for the study of reticulin around blood vessels, have been used.2Articles have been devoted to the special study of changes in the blood vessels of gliomas, particularly spongioblastoma multiforme.3Campbell, Alexander and Putnam4applied the technic of the benzidine stain to the study of the vascular pattern of a meningioma, while Alexander and Putnam5later demonstrated the pattern of an oligodendroglioma and a protoplasmic astrocytoma.
