Abstract
The preadsorption of n-nonane or n-undecane to various degrees of micropore filling, followed by immersion calorimetry into different liquids, has been examined for a set of well characterized active carbons. This approach provides a refined picture of the structural and chemical properties of the carbons, in particular the change in the hydrophilic character following the preadsorption of an organic vapour. The accessibility of triethylenediamine (TEDA), after preadsorption, is also examined. Keywords
