Abstract
Fifteen patients with myotonic dystrophy were studied for evidence of temporomandibular joint dysfunction. Three patients had significant disability and 3 had minor symptoms. Two patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis also demonstrated difficulties. Of 15 radiographic studies, 10 were abnormal. It is suggested that neuromuscular disease involving the muscles of mastication is apt to produce temporomandibular joint dysfunction.
