Abstract
Antibodies against pig brain Wolfgram protein (WP) were prepared and utilized in the analysis of WP biosynthesis in membranes from optic nerves of 20 day-old rats. Newly synthesized WP appeared rapidly (<5 min) in myelin and in a non-myelin microsome fraction and accumulated in both thereafter. Monensin did not affect the insertion of WP in either membrane fraction. These results are consistent with biosynthesis of WP on free ribosomes. This publication has 32 references indexed in Scilit:
