Abstract
THE pharmacology of Veratrum alkaloids has been reviewed recently1 and several reports dealing with their clinical use have also appeared in the literature.2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 The purpose of the present investigation was to determine the relative safety of the intravenous administration of Veratrum viride to lower acutely the blood pressure in patients with severe hypertension associated with cerebral, cardiac and renal impairment.
