Abstract
Renal function has been studied quantitatively in five patients with sickle cell anemia, all of whom were proved to have reduced glomerular filtration rates. Two patients with sickle cell trait revealed normal glomerular filtration rates. Possible mechanisms responsible for reduced glomerular filtration flows are discussed. Keywords
