Isolated Intraspinal Extradural Tuberculosis

Abstract
TUBERCULOMAS of the central nervous system are not common occurrences. In a series of 5344 patients with known pulmonary tuberculosis, there was but 1 case.1 Among a group of 38,510 patients admitted to a neurosurgical clinic in a community where the prevalence rate of tuberculosis is high, there were 9 intraspinal and 201 intracranial tuberculomas.2 The 9 intraspinal tuberculomas were found in a series of 439 intraspinal tumors.A total of 200 intraspinal tuberculomas have been described in the available medical literature of the past seventy years.
