Job Turnover and Job Satisfaction Among Nursing Home Aides

Abstract
Interviews with aides in seven nursing homes revealed between-home variability in job turnover rate, job satisfaction, and perception of milieu. Surprisingly, greater turnover occurred in better quality homes offering good wages and benefits. A positive association found between turnover rate and aides' perceptions of the homes' order, organization, and control, suggests that job turnover would lessen with changes in management style that allow aides more involvement in the decision-making process.
