Abstract
Ungrazed grassland cut off by cliffs and the sea on Worm''s Head Peninsula, Wales, was found to consist of almost a pure stand of Festuca rubra ssp. pruinosa (red fescue), with isolated plants of other spp. This luxuriant grass is in direct contrast to miscellaneous flora of short grasses on adjacent pasturage grazed by sheep. The author designates the term "dominion" to indicate the monarchial dominance of 1 sp., such as F. rubra in this case, over associated spp. whose presence and growth depend upon it.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
