Abstract
The yeastlike fungus Pullularia pullulans utilizes simple mono- and disaccharides both in the production of cell mass and the elaboration of extracellular polysaccharide. The utilization pattern of these sugars and the effect obtained by varying the pH of the medium are studied, and the ability of the organism to utilize and elaborate extracellular polysaccharides from noncarbohydrate sources is explored. Keywords
