Abstract
In the context of quaternion valued fields spontaneous symmetry breaking and the Higgs mechanism are investigated. In particular, for the potential −(μ2/2)φ̄φ−(λ/4)(φ̄φ)2, Goldstone’s theorem is studied and, for the gauge theory of automorphisms of the quaternions, a Higgs mechanism investigated. Keywords
