Abstract
Hydroxylamine reacts with acrylic acid via a triple Michael-addition forming the 3,3-bis-[2-carboxyethyl]-3-hydroxyaminopropionic acid betain (C9H15NO7). The crystal and molecular structures were determined by X-ray methods (P21/n; a = 8.097(2), b = 9.343(3), c = 14,647(4) .ANG., .beta. = 91.35(3).degree., Z = 4).
