Abstract
This paper presents a technique whereby emphysema can be objectively graded by means of computerized image processing. Emphysema is a common disease affecting human lungs and is characterized by enlargement and destruction of the gas-exchanging portion of the lung, namely alveolar air sacs. This destruction of alveoli results in loss of alveolar surface area. Keywords
