Abstract
This paper intends to examine life-styles and values of East and West and to note apparent differences and underlying commonalities relevant to psychotherapy and clinical issues. Topics discussed include a public versus private orientation, a pragmatic versus psychodynamic approach, and dependence versus independence.Keywords
