Cutaneous Cysticercosis Treated With Metrifonate

Abstract
• Cutaneous cysticercosis in humans is an uncommon parasitic infestation. When few nodules are present, surgical excision is effective therapy. For multiple nodules, diverse forms of treatment have been employed. We describe herein a patient with myriad nodules of cysticercosis who showed dramatic improvement after two six-day courses of metrifonate (an organophosphorous compound) administered one month apart. These encouraging results could be of help to other patients, especially those with CNS involvement, although the use of this compound is not without risk. (Arch Dermatol 1981;117:507-509)
