Abstract
transition rates in and nuclei have been calculated in model spaces using an effective interaction and effective charges obtained by summing the diagrams of the Tamm-Dancoff approximation for screened particle-hole vertices. Good agreement with measured rates are obtained for transitions between high-spin states. The results are further very similar to those obtained by parametrizing the effective charges.
