Teaching Process:

Abstract
An interdisciplinary course in long term care offered to advanced graduate students at Columbia University has been designed to increase students' abilities to work collaboratively with other health and social service providers. A small student group where face-to-face interaction is possible makes the class a "team" whose dynamics can be studied and applied to work settings. This article emphasizes the importance of team process discussions as an integral part of team functioning. Seminar sessions and assignments are described which facilitate students' abilities to communicate insight into the team process for the purposes of strengthening the team's weaknesses and increasing its effectiveness.
