Abstract
The chronic administration of propylthiouracil for 16–30 days to mice resulted in either no increase or depression in the specific activity of the thyroid iodide pump. Within 24 hours after the withdrawal of propylthiouracil from the diet there occurred an augmentation of the specific activity of the iodide pump. The total activity of the thyroid pump behaved in a similar manner. The disassociation of pump activity from growth suggests that in the mouse these parameters of thyroid function are independent processes. Keywords
