Repeat Bench Surgery on a Solitary Kidney

Abstract
Extracorporeal or bench surgery on a solitary kidney was performed twice in the same patient within 4 yr to excise 2 separate malignant tumors arising in the renal cortex. A 3rd separate small tumor was detected 1 1/2 yr later and was excised in situ with a clamped pedicle and renal cooling. These techniques permit tumor disseciton without spillage and avoid dialysis, with no evident disadvantage in terms of tumor survival rate.
