Abstract
Initial data for two moving and spinning black holes in vacuum is constructed and evolved through a brief period of coalescence, as indicated by the location of the apparent horizon. The Bel-Robinson flux shows signs of gravitational radiation. This is the first time that a binary black hole spacetime is obtained in 3d numerical relativity that is not axisymmetric.
