Abstract

The application of x-rays (dosage[long dash]4000 r) to the pupal stage gave from 2 to 4% crossing-over in the [male][male] in the central regions of the 2nd and 3rd chromosomes. Since it is in this same region that crossing-over is increased in [female][female] by x-rays, the mechanism seems to be the same for both sexes.
