TOTAL-DOSE INFUSION OF IRON-DEXTRAN IN RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Abstract

Eighteen patients with active rheumatoid arthritis were treated with total-dose infusion of iron-dextran for anaemia. Only one patient had an exacerbation of joint disease. These findings are in contrast to earlier reports of a high incidence of reactions to this therapy. Possible reasons for these findings are discussed.
