HIGHER-ORDER FOCUSING IN THE π√2 β-SPECTROMETER

Abstract
The expansion coefficients of that magnetic field which gives best focusing in the high-aperture double-focusing spectrometer have been determined to the sixth order. The analytical calculations have been checked by numerical integration of the equations of the orbits. The third- and fourth-order coefficients published by Stoker et al. (1954) are not in agreement with our results.Keywords
