Abstract
Feed restriction by intermittent fasting from 60 to 90 kg body weight (Bwt) reduced the levels of certain blood metabolites (urea nitrogen and free fatty acids), but this response was not the same in Lacombe as in Yorkshire pigs. The changes in blood metabolite levels during fasting and feeding periods indicated altered metabolic function during the period of feed restriction.
