Abstract
Coital cephalalgic (CC) is rare (1/360 headaches); it occurs more frequently among men. Of 16 cases, CC was the inaugural symptom of vascular attack in 4 cases. In the other 12 cases, CC was isolated or primary. Three types were distinguished according to the time of onset of headache during coitus. Early CC was usually moderate and short lasting; orgasmic CC was abrupt, severe and lasted 15 to 20 min and late CC of long duration (days) sometimes follows orgasmic CC. Isolated CC is usually repetitive but capricious and episodical, not periodical. Prognosis is good. Mechanism is mainly vascular and muscular. The role of high blood pressure, migraine and psychological factors is discussed. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
