Abstract
This is a report of the predictive validity of several commonly used measures of reading readiness. Of the many factors included in reading readiness tests, alphabet letter names appear to best reflect readiness for learning to read. Apparently performances involved in knowing letters by names includes auditory and visual discrimination in an integrated style and is more potent than discrete measures of auditory or visual discrimination. Keywords
