Abstract
The applicability of the polarized ion model to the gaseous rare‐earth monoxides and to the highly electropositive alkaline‐earth monoxides and monosulfides has been proved. The polarizability values here used for O−2, S−2, Ca+2, Sr+2, Ba+2, and rare‐earth double ions indicate the possibility of establishing a polarizability scale to be used in ion model calculations. Keywords
