Status and Distribution of Some Northwest Peruvian Birds

Abstract
A brief history of ornithological exploration in northwestern Peru (Departments of Tumbes, Piura and Lambayeque) is given. New information on the distribution of 48 spp. is presented. Two species, common nighthawk (Chordeiles minor) and black-and-white Warbler (Mniotilta varia), are reported in Peru for the 1st time.
