Abstract
Results of measurements of retraction and filament angles as a function of twist for single continuous-filament yarns are given and compared with the predictions of Treloar's theory. It is shown that the agreement for commercial yarns is quite good. Yarn twisted in 50-in. lengths on a laboratory machine is fundamentally different from commercial yarn, and results from it do not agree with the theory. Results of preliminary measurements on 2-ply cord are given.
