Abstract
Since relaxation tests are usually run on tensile specimens, the behavior of members under a state of combined stress is not well known. Analytical solutions of the relaxation of an elasticoviscous tube in a rigid tube sheet in both plane stress and a modified plane strain are worked out. The effect of reloading tensile specimens in relaxation is discussed and results of tests on an aluminum alloy are presented to illustrate these effects.Keywords
