Abstract
Though ferrets are often employed for exptl. investigations of virus diseases, detailed studies on the physiology of normal ferrets are lacking. Measurements of the circulatory functions were performed in a group of 10 normal ferrets. The mean cardiac output per min. per sq. m. of body surface for the group was 2.476 1. The avg. circulation time was 6.8 sec. as detd. by the fluorescein technic, and 4.5 sec. as detd. by the cyanide method. The avg. mean arterial blood pressure was 147 mm. Hg. The cardiac index pf ferrets, detd. according to Fick''s principle, was intermediate between those for dog and rabbit. Keywords
