Epikeratophakia for Myopia: Preliminary Considerations

Abstract
A review of our early experience with epikeratophakia for high myopia at The Ohio State University is presented. Our first seven patients undergoing the procedure are included, with a minimum follow-up of four months. The clinical aspects of tissue handling, reepithelialization, and clearing have been entirely satisfactory. The early visual results have been variable, with some fluctuation of surface contour and of the obtained refractive corrections still occurring for several weeks following suture removal. Final analyses of obtained powers and predictability are continuing at this time; computer generated graphs of early results are given.
