Abstract
A new method is described to deduce observables from the yields measured in a nuclear physics experiment with polarized beam and target. The method makes use of a formalism, known in the mathematical literature under the name of “diagonal scaling” or “biproportional matrix adjustment,” which deals with the problem of scaling the rows and columns of a matrix to obtain a new matrix with given row and column sums. Keywords
