Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare three different treatment modalities for divorce adjustment groups, that is, structured, unstructured, and control groups. The criterion measures used were preselected subscales of the Tennessee Self Concept Scale, the Self Description Inventory, and a Self Report Questionnaire. The results showed significantly higher mean scores on the subtests of the Tennessee Self Concept Scale and the Self Description Inventory for the structured group over the unstructured and control groups. The Self Report Questionnaire revealed no significant differences except for the level of satisfaction with the group. Implications suggest that skill-building exercises might add an important therapeutic dimension for those experiencing adjustment to divorce. Keywords
