Abstract
Sea or tidal defences form part of the land drainage and flood prevention function of the regional water authorities (RWAs). This chapter deals with policy making in relation to sea defences. It presents a case study which adopts a broad approach to the GIR initiative, focusing on the policy-making process on a sea defence scheme within an RWA. It also explores whether the concept of a professionalized network can help understand the policy-making process in this area. Keywords
