Abstract
Leaf stripe caused by Pyrenophora graminea, which has not been seen in Western Australia in the last two decades, reappeared on barley cv. Forrest in 1987. Of several fungicides applied as seed dressings in experiments at Merredin, Mount Barker and Narrogin, carboxin gave the best disease control. Reappearance of leaf stripe may be due to the susceptibility of cv. Forrest and the ineffectiveness of the now widely used triadimenol seed dressing which does not control the disease.
