Abstract
During the past decade, a seemingly endless list of mysterious, newly described infectious diseases has captured the attention of the public. Now, just when you thought your imagination had been taxed to its limit, along comes the delta hepatitis virus.What is it? The delta agent, or hepatitis delta virus, has a unique hybrid structure consisting of a delta inner core encapsulated by the surface antigen of hepatitis B virus.
