Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 77-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of an infected hand.Nine years earlier she was found to have a noninvasive transitional-cell carcinoma of the bladder. During the next two years small areas of recurrence were repeatedly fulgurated, and intravesical instillation of thiotepa was begun. Eight months before entry anemia was noted, and further evaluation disclosed pancytopenia, without lymphadenopathy or hepatosplenomegaly. The hematocrit was 17 per cent; the white-cell count was 1300, and the platelet count 66,000. A 25-cell differential count showed 9 neutrophils, 2 band forms, 7 lymphocytes, 4 monocytes, 2 eosinophils and 1 . . .
