The kinetics of the interaction of atomic hydrogen with olefines VI. An extension of the method and application to substituted olefines and aromatics

Abstract
The method previously described for using the heterogeneous removal of atomic hydrogen on molybdenum oxide to provide competition with the fast gas-phase removal of atomic hydrogen by unsaturated compounds is used here to investigate the reactivities of various substituted ethylenes and benzenes. Further development of the theoretical basis for these experimental methods has been possible, mainly since it is now established that some of the atoms generated in the vessel are removed by the silica surface of the reaction vessel. Previous results have been substantiated and corrected for this new factor.
