Abstract
A stabilized fluorescein-anesthetic solution has been developed for use in applanation tonometry. The solution is formulated to provide effective preservation and good stability. Microbiological tests have been conducted using a number of representative pathogens including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Discomfort on application is minimal. Tonometric determinations are accurate when the proposed method of patient preparation is used. Consistent fluorescence is readily achieved, allowing more reproducible intraocular pressure determinations. Efficiency is increased by eliminating the need for separate application of fluorescein. Keywords
